Question:
Last year my doctor placed a porthacath in my right shoulder area. At the time I was taking chelation therapy and was told my veins were closing down due to the treatment. After the cath was installed, I had the chelation treatment about three times. Since then the only time he use the cath is once a month to flush it out and once when I was having an asthmatic attack.I asked my doctor to remove it because it has always been very uncomfortable and very tender and there is a large scar tissue next to the insertion field where he have to flush it. He tried to give me something to numb the area when he injected something for the scar tissue but said but that was very painful so the next time I told him not o touch the scar tissue. My doctor told me I would bleed to death on the table when I asked him to remove this thing. He said he cut a major artery and put this in permantly. I am very upset about this but don't know what to do. I hate even going to have this flushed out and am angry because all my doctor keep talking about is one day I may need this as a matter of life or death but I am going through all the suffering now for nothing. Is there some type of test that can be done to see if in fact I can have this removed without dying on the table? I am very distressed about this. Thank you, Lusceal\ledw683733@aol.com
