Question:
My sister has just been diagnosed with a severe blockage in her illiac vein. The blockage is were it branches off to the upper and lower extremetiesup her right side.I know this is extremly rare and very serious.I would like to know what procedures are done to correct this and also what problems can occur? I am very concerned.

Answer:
The only procedure possible is bypass surgery to restore blood flow. But this means major surgery by a vascvular surgeon.
