I too was recently diagnosed (9/25/06) with DVT. I was lucky - no PE and no hospitalization. I did 4 days of self-injected Lovenox and started on 5 mg of warfarin. When my INR went to 6.3 only three days after being at 1.2, they stopped the Lovenox and cut the warfarin to 2.5 mg. I'm now alternating 1.25 mg with 2.5 mg of warfarin since my last INR was 3.8.
I'm 49 and was on Alesse for irregular periods. I'm off that now and having to deal with DVT and peri-menopausal symptomso all at once. I know how alone you feel - I feel it too. I have a hundred questions for which I can't seem to find answers. I want to exercise so I don't get fat, but haven't been greenlighted for that yet. I'm not thrilled about the support hose, but if it prevents post-thromobotic syndrome, I'm all for it. My doctor says I can stop wearing them when the swelling goes down, but I'm not sure how much of an expert he is on this.
Hang in there!
