First blood clot at 35(migratory phlebitis)

I am a 35yr old male, who has played high school and college sports, and have a fairly active job. In Feb. I went in for a physical and had blood drawn in my left arm. One week later I traveled approx. 8-10 hours on a car and became sick with the flu while I was on this trip. Two days later I drove another 8 hours back home. 3 days later my left arm began to hurt and was red and hot. The next few days I had a lump in my left arm, where I had blood drawn. I went to the emergency room and was told I had superficial phlebitis. The next few days my inner thighs began to hurt and were red and swollen. I had sonogram and was told I had blood clots in superficial vain. A few days later my Left calf began to swell and was red, hot, and I could not walk without a great amt. of pain. I had sonogram and was told I had DVT in papateel vein and several others in my superficial veins in my arms and legs. I was admitted and stayed in hospital for 10 days. I have now been out about two weeks and am gradually walking better. I am still shocked, I never knew what a blood clot was, now I am told I have two hereditary factors that put me a risk for blook clots. Im feeling back to normal, but it is still shocking. Any else had this happen. I am frustrated, because they cannot say for sure what happened. Thank you in advance.
