TIPP - Transilluminated Powered Phlebectomy

I had a very large varicose vein which had been around for at least 7 years - no real pain, just very distended especially at the end of the day. I had a couple of injections done about 3 years ago and that did not take care of the problem. So I resolved this year to get rid of this thing and began my investigation. There is a wealth of information available on the Internet, so it was easy to determine that there were a number of solutions. At that time, I did not come across TIPP (transilluminated powered phlebectomy), but began looking at the other alternatives. I went to several doctors to get advice, but still was not sure what to do. I happened to be looking through my local town newspaper and came upon a new local vein center and decided to give a call to get some information. I read the information and scheduled an appointment to see one of the doctors there. My primary goals were to find a procedure which would take care of my problem and not just the symptoms, have minimal down time, and feel comfortable with my doctor. After my initial appointment, almost immediately I thought that I had found all of those things. Dr. Braxton explained how the procedure is done and what to expect as far as recovery. He was extremely helpful and answered all of my questions. So right away I felt very comfortable with him. Make a long story short, I had this procedure done Wednesday April 4, 2001 and was walking around the same afternoon. I did feel good enough to go to work the very next day and was running on it two days later. Needless to same, I am very happy with the choice that I made. As a last comment, there was really no pain at all - the only thing I feel is some muscle soreness, but that's really not a big deal and hopefully this will resolve with some massage and healing time.
