varicose veins and high blood pressure
My 68-year old mother has always suffered from varicose veins. Until recently, they did not cause her pain, but were very obvious. Lately, however, she has been complaining of intense and throbbing pain, especially in her ankles where her varicosities are most pronounced. The issue that worries me most is her extremely high blood pressure. In addition, last year she developed type-II adult onset diabetes. She is not on insulin, but controls her diabetes through her diet. Do diabetes and high blood pressure make the existence of varicose veins more dangerous?
