Varicose Veins I had surgery done in July of 2001. My doctor did say something about pregnancy causing some of the effects of the varicose veins and I also inherited some. I had huge varicose veins. My veins were knotted and swollen. My children told me my legs looked bad. I was in pain most days. Somedays, I had a hard time trying to walk. After the surgery, I felt better. But now I am worried because, my lower right leg is hurting. Plus, I am numb in the left leg to my ankle.
