HELP..Please
I am a 32 year old female of normal weight, I exercise regulary and maintain a healthy diet. Since the birth of my first child, and after the birth of my second and third child soon afterward, my problem with varicose veins has become quite a problem. I have had sclerotherapy on several veins with some success, but it just seems that more appear as time goes on. They have now gotten so bad in the vaginal area that standing for long periods of time cause the same discomfort as does the pain in my legs. I also believe that the intermittent pelvic pain I have on my right side is in someway directly related to the significant varicosities on my right leg.
I have had exploratory surgery to rule out congestive pelvic disorder and also the possibility of a mass which might explain the continued bulging in my pelvic area. My valves supposedly "look good" in this area, so the doctor was not sure what would cause this pressure.
These veins in my legs and groin area are just irritated further by my exercise and now I hate to think I must decide between "overall health", and my "vein health". I feel that I can't continue my workouts, even though I have discontinued any high impact exercise or lifting heavy weights. I find that I now have restless legs at night, and at times can't fall asleep because I just can't seem to get comfortable. My legs pretty much bother me much of the day. However, a long day at the zoo or amusement park causes great discomfort, as does standing at the sink doing dishes. Yes, cosmetically, it is also a problem with me. I am embarassed to wear shorts or a bathing suit and would much rather wear pants then a dress.
I am only 32 and I am worried about how serious this will become as I get older. Doctors tell me to take aspirin and figure since its worse during my menstrual cycle, I really have to only suffer "more" for five days. How ridiculous. I notice slight swelling at night and a tightening of my skin near the ankle area after a long day. I have the stockings, but seriously, I live in Arizona and when it's 113, they are just not practical. I am disgusted that my doctors are not taking this more "seriously" and treating this condition more aggressively. I don't care what needs to be done to make this "better".
