ovarian vein syndrome
I have experience right flank pain for a year and have had multiple scans, test and doctor visits. Most doctors from general, surgerons and neurologist prescribed heavy pain meds but could not find the answer. The pain was described as a deep, burning pain and worsened during the day. I could not sleep on my right side. I have no gallbladder or appendix and finally had a diagnostic lap which found some scar tissue, a couple of staples in the stomach wall and an ovarian cyst. The pain returned in less than two weeks and I went to the GYN. The previous doctors assured me that the pain could not be female since it was "above" my navel. The GYN found fibroids and enlarged uterus and suggested hormone therapy. It seemed to work until the hormone wore off then I experienced extreme pain....again. I had a complete hysterectomy to take care of those issues and the surgeron and GYN found their first case of "ovarian vein syndrome". My right ovary was covered with a mass of protruding veins. They feel my "right flank pain" was directed from the syndrome. It's nice to finally prove my condition is real!
