infiltration of vein
i was hospitalized on 12/29/02 with asthma. while in the emergency room a nurse inserted an i.v..after she put medicine in it i told her that it burned real bad. she told me that it was just the medicine. i complained a second time & was told it was just the medicine. finally the next day after hours of steroid therapy thru the i.v.a nurse listened to me & changed the i.v. to the other hand. my hand has never recovered from this. it always felt bruised, but i thought over time it would get better. now my hand is very swollen & i have been diagnosed with phlebitis. i was also told that this painful condition will probably occur off and on until the vein finally scars completely & no blood will be able to get thru. i just wanted to share my story. thank you
