LYMPHEDEMA
Lymphedema is a condition that is often confused with various venous problems. It is not a venous problem. It is a seperate condition and in a seperate body system, the lymphatic system. While lymphedema is currently not curable it is a managable condition. There are 2 basic types of Lymphedema, Primary (meaning hereditary in nature) and Secondary (meaning caused by some trauma to the lymphatic system, often as a result of cancer related surgeries or treatment). While there are different types, the treatment is basically the same. I have primary Lymphedema that was undiagnosed for nearly 30 years because of its relative obscurity and the fact that it's symptoms mimic (or are mistaken for) other conditions. There is help and there is hope. You are not alone. Please contact the LYMPHEDEMA Online Support Group (sponsored by ACOR - the Association of Online Cancer Resources) at http//.www.ACOR.ORG.
